Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham
Serving Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge Townships
Our mission at Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham is to assist in the healthy development of children through a variety of mentoring programs which match children with positive adult role models.
Volunteers are matched with a child between the ages of 6-16 from single parent homes to "hang out" for a few hours a week doing such things as building model airplanes, tossing a football, learning new crafts, playing computer games or whatever the two of you decide to do.
The benefits to these children are tremendous. Their self-esteem is raised, they get better grades in school and their self-confidence is greatly improved. With your help, these children display a decline in negative behaviour, are happier and gain a more positive outlook on life and the changing world around us.
Our History at Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham has been creating friendships since 1976. We started out matching Big Brothers with Little Brothers and have grown to include a variety of different programs that serve both boys and girls. We are proud of our achievements and continue to strive to be on the leading edge of the Big Brothers Big Sisters movement in Canada. We are a Registered Charity #89104 5247RR0001.
Come out and be a Big Brother Big Sister or join us as a Little Brother Little Sister You'll feel the difference!
