Musically inclined killer plants, evil dentists, and singing flower shop employees are not commonly used in the same sentence. However, after seeing The Little Shop of Horrors on cannot help but use them in the same sentence. Mrs. Craig's drama classes and members of the Starbucks cafe not only got the opportunity to go see the play at the Canadian Stage Company, but they got to see it on opening night.
It was a very tightly put together production with evidence that the crew put in a lot of hard work; the actors suited the parts perfectly and the set looked as though it was out of a movie. The dialogue was laugh out loud funny; so hilarious that I am sure - if the people beside me were not laughing hard themselves - they would have thought I was having a conniption fit. The highlight of the play was definitely the songs. They complimented the play so well that it flowed brilliantly from start to finish, to say nothing of the manic giggles they received from the audience.
To say it was a great play is a massive understatement. I will never look at a flower the same way ever again...or dentists for that matter.
